While the chemicals involved have gotten safer, the standard process remains one where the cleaner washes your clothes in petroleum solvents. To top it all off, the chemicals involved make your clothes smell–they have to advise you to air out your clothes before you wear them. And to think, you thought you were dropping off your dirty clothes to come back smelling fresh and clean. What a terrible customer experience…

Most cleaners are hot and chaotic, essentially a sweatshop with steam and chemicals and dirty clothes piled everywhere. Everything is based on 50-year-old technology–no one knows where your clothes are until they look on the rack. If you lose your ticket you’ll never get your clothes back. Maybe you’ve seen some cleaners call themselves ‘organic’ or ‘green’? Sorry, that’s just misleading. By definition, dry cleaning uses chemical solvents to wash your clothes.

Our customer experience is grounded in quiet efficiency. Our stores are bright and pleasant. We have no chemicals onsite beyond our naturally derived laundry detergents. Our inventory management system is digitized and we track your items through the whole process. Your name is your ticket.

But most importantly, we clean with water, not petroleum, whenever possible. We FOLD your clothes neatly in recyclable paper bags–not hung in wasteful plastic–that are easier to carry and easier to reuse or recycle. You say you need some of your items on hangers? No problem, we use recycled cardboard hangers of our own design–not throw-away plastic or metal ones–and unless otherwise requested, we use custom recycled paper sleeves to protect your items on their hangers. Sensing a pattern? We love ditching the plastic whenever we can. Way less waste. No chemical smell.
